Austeja Auciute to face Ciara Ginty as Finn Valley ABC host star-studded tournament

AN ARRAY OF World, Olympic and European medallists will be on show this evening at the Villa Rose Hotel, as Finn Valley ABC host a Christmas Tournament.

Finn Valley’s nine-times Irish champion and former World bronze medal winner Austeja Auciute is back in action when she squares up to Geesala’s Ciara Ginty in what promises to be a cracking 64kgs bout.

Auciute won Irish title number nine last June when she defeated Ciara Sheedy in the Under-18 final.

Ginty is one of Irish boxings gems having won a silver medal at last year’s Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing – where Finn Valley’s Michael Gallagher won a bronze – with the Mayo woman previously winning gold at the AIBA World Youth and Junior Championships in 2013 in Bulgaria.

Ginty was Junior Boxer of the Tournament that year and this evening can be expected to be a real test for Auciute in the headline act of the night.

Leon Gallagher is a former European Schoolboys bronze medal winner and he faces Kenan Gibson from Convoy at 75kgs.

Leah Gallen is the latest champion from the Finn Valley stable having won the Girl 2 46kgs crown in May. She meets Geesala’s Leah McDonagh this evening on her home canvas.

There’s also a return to the ring for Finn Valley’s popular ‘Pocket Rocket’, Darren Kelly, who takes on Michael McGuire from Ballinacarrow in a bout that is the Finn Valley man’s first contest in two years.
