ANOTHER FATHER-SON combination played together in the Ulster Senior League this afternoon.
Anthony Gorman and his son, Zach, both came off the bench to play for Letterkenny Rovers in their 4-0 win over Swilly Rovers at The Aura Centre.
At 45, Anthony Gorman came on for Ryan Lonergan in the 62nd minute.
As a 16-year-old, he had signed for Mansfield Town in the 1980s, before returning to Ireland to forge a fine career that saw him have spells at Galway United, Finn Harps, Sligo Rovers, Portadown, Coleraine, Linfield and Crusaders.
In 2008, he signed for his native Letterkenny Rovers.
The old magic hasn’t left him, either and the veteran midfielder had a decisive role in Rovers’ fourth goal, scored by Darren McElwaine.
In the 84th minute, 16-year-old Zach – who also plays for Rovers’ Donegal Youth League and Under-19 sides – was sent on by Eamon McConigley, the Rovers manager, to replace McElwaine.

The Gormans first shared the same pitch last October in a 4-3 defeat by Cockhill Celtic in the FAI Intermediate Cup.
In 2012, Dale Gorman – now with Stevenage FC – replaced his father, Anthony, to make his Rovers debut in an Intermediate Cup game against College Corinthians.
Earlier this week, Paddy McGrenaghan and his son, Keelin McElwaine, played the full 90 minutes for Fanad United in the scoreless draw against Swilly.
