DONEGAL COUNTY BOARD chairman Sean Dunnion has paid tribute to the County U-21 hurlers at tonight’s annual awards ceremony.
Paddy Flood’s side won the All-Ireland Under-21 C championship with victory over with a win over Tyrone at Celtic Park in Derry in July.
The victorious panel were tonight presented with their medals on what Dunnion described as a “tremendous achievement” for the county.
“Overall it was great campaign,” Dunnion said. “Donegal played tremendous hurling and anyone who was at the final would agree it a fantastic game. There was a great battle with Tyrone and our lads showed tremendous resilience to win the Andrew O’Neill Cup. It was a great achievement.”
Dunnion thanked Flood and his backroom team, front by Tom Hennessy and Paddy Lennon.
Tonight’s event was attended by approximately 120 people, with Charlie Collins of Donegal Sport Hub as compere. Martin McAviney, Uachtarán Chomhairle Uladh, was the special guest.
