CAITRIONA JENNINGS HAS set a new national 50k record on her ultra debut in IAU 50km World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
The Letterkenny native was fourth home in the women’s event, with a time of three hours 31 minutes 49.2 seconds.
The race was won by American Camille Herron in 3:20:58.2, with Croatian Marija Vrajic second in 3:28:25.2 and Canada’s Catrin Jones was third with 3:28:19.3.

The inaugural championships took on the Aspire grounds in Doha over a 5km loop, with Jennings in third place at the half-way point.

Jennings, 35, took part in the 2012 London Olympic marathon and her elder sister Sinead will be going to Rio for the 2016 Games in the women’s light-weight double skulls.
