Amy Boyle-Carr (Donegal Minor Ladies)
The Donegal minor ladies booked a spot in the Ulster Championship final thanks to a semi-final win over Armagh. Donegal won 4-9 to 0-6 and Glenties woman Amy Boyle-Carr was on song for James McGinley’s team. Boyle-Carr, who is also on the Donegal senior squad, scored 2-1.
Harry Doherty (Crusaders)
In last Saturday’s Irish Cup final at Windsor Park, Crusaders overcame Ballinamallard United 3-0 to take the silverware. Buncrana native Harry Doherty kept a clean sheet as Crusaders got their mitts on the prize. The former Finn Harps man was in with Gerard Doherty absent through injury and played his part in the triumpg.
Jack Keaney (Sligo Rovers)
At the Showgrounds on Saturday night, Sligo Rovers defeated Shamrock Rovers 2-1 and it was a game that Jack Keaney won’t forget in a hurry. In the second half, the Donegal Town man struck a wonder goal from a 35-yard free kick. Keaney’s goal, which has been viewed over 1 million times on social media, went viral afterwards.
Caolan McAleer (Finn Harps)
Finn Harps, at the 16th time of asking, finally bagged their first win of the season on Friday night. Caolan McAleer scored twice as Ollie Horgan’s team defeated UCD 3-0. McAleer was outstanding on the night and might well have added more. It was one of the best individual displays from a Harps player in some time.
Geraldine McLaughlin (Termon)
In Monday’s senior ladies final at Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta in Gaoth Dobhair, Geraldine McLaughlin lit the touch paper. The Termon star scored a stunning 1-10 as Termon defeated old rivals Glenfin. McLaughlin hit nine first-half points and landed a super second-half goal for a 2-11 to 0-9 win.
Oisin Orr (Rathmullan)
Donegal jockey Oisin Orr had another fine week. Last Friday night at Dundalk, Orr recorded a 122/1 double – winning on the 33/1 Anaczka and the 6/1 Peddlers Pass. On Sunday, Orr won on 9/2 shot Manqoosh for Dermot Weld at Gowran Park.
